About
Shiplist is a link-in-bio for people who build a lot of small things and lose track of them. You paste your links; it makes one page and one image of the lot.
What is free
All of it. There is no paid tier, no feature held back and no limit you can pay to lift.
What is open
- Every page is also available as JSON: add
.jsonto its address. - Every page’s image has a stable address: add
.png. Use it in a README and it stays current. - You can export your whole profile and import it into another install.
- The code is MIT licensed and runs on one Node process with one SQLite file.
What is stored
- Your handle, a salted hash of your password, and what you put on your page.
- Copies of each listed site’s preview image and icon, so your page does not load anything from other servers.
- If you give your X handle: the name, bio and picture on your profile there, to show on your page and image where you have given none of your own. They are read from your public profile page on X, or through FixTweet if X gives no answer.
- If you upvote an app on someone’s page: a random token in your browser, so your vote counts once and you can take it back, and a scrambled copy of it here beside the vote. No address is kept with it.
- Daily totals of views and clicks. No cookies are set on public pages and visitor addresses are not kept.
The link checker
When someone lists a site, Shiplist requests that page once to read its title, description, preview image and icon, then re-checks about once a week. It identifies itself as Shiplist/1.0.
If you would rather your site was not read, block that user agent and listed links will fall back to your site’s name.
